Guide Lamp FP-45 Liberator Single Shot Pistol in .45 ACP Silver – Pre-Owned

From Wikipedia: The FP-45 Liberator is a pistol manufactured by the United States military during World War II for use by resistance forces in occupied territories.  The Liberator was never issued to American or other Allied troops and there are few documented instances of the weapon being used for its intended purpose; though the intended recipients, irregulars and resistance fighters rarely kept detailed records.  Few FP-45 pistols were distributed as intended and most were destroyed by Allied forces after the war… The Army designated the weapon the “Flare Projector Caliber .45” to disguise the fact that a pistol was being mass-produced.  The original engineering drawings labeled the barrel as a “tube”, the trigger as a “yoke”, the firing pin as a “control rod”, and the trigger guard as “spanner”.  The Guide Lamp Division plant in Anderson, Indiana assembled 1 million of these guns, and the project took about six months from conception to completion with about 11 weeks of actual manufacturing time done by only 300 workers.  The FP-45 was a crude, single-shot pistol designed to be cheaply and quickly mass-produced.  It had just 23 largely stamped and turned steel parts that were cheap and easy to manufacture.

A very rare United States of America Liberator Pistol in very good condition and comes with the original (Watermarked) Instructions and book titled: The Liberator Pistol by Ralph Hagan. Firearm will grade at very good + and is in unrestored condition. It has not been cleaned or polished with a wire brush like so many offered for sale. This is original! It does show light rust but is normal for an all pressed steel firearm that survived World War II! This firearm was designed to be dropped from airplanes to undercover contacts to distribute to Allies. They were dropped by parachutes and came with a box and a few rounds of ammo with instructions on how to operate the firearm. Manufactured by Guide Lamp in 1942. Although not clear it is said that they were dropped or supplied to: Guadalcanal, France, England, Greece, China, Belgium, The Philippines Islands, Australia, Norway and Denmark . The gun was manufactured without any markings other than a few numbers hidden on a some parts of the pistol. This example shows the number "40" on the cocking handle and a "F" behind the chamber. Not classified as a NFA, Please call to see if it is legal in your state prior to purchasing. Must send to FFL as it is a firearm.
